Serving as a business partner with the corporation and its operating units, the Global Payroll Tax Analyst within the Global Business Services Group is responsible for performing analytical audits of the pay cycles, balancing both Vendor payroll tax files and invoice files on a monthly, quarterly, and year end basis to ensure timeliness and accuracy in processing of all tax remittance payments. This position will regularly interact with HR, Finance, Internal Audit, and external Vendor managing tax filings and remittance activities relating to all Federal, State, and Local jurisdictions. This position serves as the subject matter expert for payroll taxes in a multi-state, multi-FEIN environment. This position is also responsible for payroll tax/garnishment General Ledger accounts reconciliations on a monthly and quarterly basis, prepare journal entries, and maintain payroll tax related General Ledger accounts. The Global Payroll Tax Analyst will work with Global Mobility team in processing payroll for expatriates.
Coordinate with Third Party payroll tax/Garnishment Vendor to ensure that weekly, biweekly, monthly, and semi-monthly payroll tax processing is completed timely and ensure all payroll tax payments are made as required. Research and work with Vendor for all tax issues received.
Inform management of changes to tax requirements affecting the company and its employees.
Research and set up state tax jurisdictions across multi-state sites, including locals.
Work with Third Party unemployment Vendor for both wage verifications and unemployment tax rates. Ensure that unemployment tax rates are updated in Workday. Act as liaison between Vendor, HR, and state agencies for any issues arising in the processing of unemployment benefits to employees.
Work with Third Party Relocation Vendor to process and report taxable amounts. Provide reports to Vendor on a quarterly and annual basis.
Work with Global Mobility Vendor to prepare and process monthly payroll for approximately 25 U.S. expatriate employees. Set up split and shadow payrolls as needed.
Serve as a back-up to Global Payroll Analyst for processing payroll in Workday for 1300+ salaried employees.
Work with Benefits to process monthly pension payroll for approximately 125 employees.
Manage relationships on behalf of Brown-Forman, its related companies and divisions with the Internal Revenue Service, State, and local tax authorities.
Ensure documentation of Payroll Tax Standard Operating Procedures are maintained and updated periodically.
Coordinate with Third Party Vendor the production of 3500+ W-2 forms annually.
Maintain confidentiality of all payroll-related data and ensure information is only provided to authorized individuals.
Ensure continuous professional growth and development through internal and external workshops and seminars.
Stay current with all payroll-related tax laws and regulation changes to ensure compliance by using various information sources for conducting research (e.g. Bloomberg BNA, APA, etc.).
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
5+ years of direct experience with payroll taxes at federal, state, and local levels in a multi-state, multi-FEIN environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
Experience in International payroll processing.
Experience setting up split and shadow payrolls for international assignments.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel.
Demonstrated ability to independently research and manage multi-tasks being conscientious and detail oriented fulfilling commitments within specified deadlines.
A professional payroll certification such as the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
Experience using Workday, Peoplesoft, or SAP systems.
