Suvie is revolutionizing cooking with a new product that combines the most advanced home cooking methods to deliver dinner on demand by turning raw ingredients into fully cooked meals. This rapidly growing startup is looking for a Food Scientist for Recipe & Menu Development to work out of our kitchen in Cambridge, MA.
You’ll join an experienced team of business leaders and engineers with a track record of successful startup exits. As our Food Scientist for Recipe & Menu Development, you will play an integral role developing our new product and the accompanying meals. Combine your love of food with a knack for analysis, and help lead our kitchen revolution!
Develop, manage and execute test plans using the scientific method to analyze food and appliance performance
Manage recipe development to produce meals that are great tasting and best showcase our unique technology
Develop and maintain up-to-date NF, PDP, and other regulatory labeling for components and meals
Investigate, advise, and implement best practices and standards for safety
Audit existing partners & co-packers and perform due diligence on potential vendors, to ensure product quality and safety standards are met
Coordinate food orders for in-house testing
Bachelor’s and Culinary degree required. Master’s or higher in food safety, food science, or natural sciences preferred.
Must possess a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience including a comprehensive culinary background
Test kitchen or other recipe development experience required
Excellent, team-oriented communication skills
Experience with food delivery and management is a plus
Experience with commercial food production for retail sale a plus
Familiarity with USDA/FDA standards and labeling requirements a plus
ServSafe certification as well as familiarity with HACCP issues and plans including experience working with Modified Atmosphere Packaging and vacuum sealing of proteins
Strong computer skills including experience working with Google drive, spreadsheets and online content management systems
Passion for cooking, technology, and home appliances is a must!
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Excellent culinary technique
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills
Able to take clear, descriptive notes during testing
Receptive to feedback
Strong management experience working with cross-functional teams.
This is a full time management salaried position working normal business hours based in our Cambridge, MA development kitchen. The position includes salary, paid vacation time during typical federal holidays, benefits and startup equity. Salary is negotiable based on experience.
